Willbur Jasson (LL.B.)

Willbur matriculated from Swartland High School in 2019, and holds both an LL.B. and an LL.M. degree from Stellenbosch University. In 2023, he gained practical experience in legal drafting and research during his vacation work at a Malmesbury-based law firm. He further developed these skills in his final year Practical Legal Training module, where he worked directly with clients at the Stellenbosch Law Clinic. In addition to his academic achievements, Willbur served as a tutor for Mercantile Law 193, conducting tutorials and supporting the learning process for 110 students.

Willbur’s leadership roles, from serving as head boy in both primary and high school to chairing the Sport Committee and coaching the Stellenbosch Boxing Club, have equipped him with the ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and inspire growth in others. Beyond his academic pursuits, he also represented South Africa and the Western Province in boxing. These experiences have reinforced his belief in the value of hard work, discipline, and consistency — qualities he is proud to bring to DSC.

Driven by his love for helping people, Willbur joined DSC as a candidate legal practitioner in 2025. He currently assists Daneil Botha in his demanding litigation practice.

Jessica Laubscher (LL.B.)

Jessica is a dedicated candidate legal practitioner, currently assisting Sanél Botha in her demanding practice. Jessica excelled academically at Edgemead High School, matriculating in 2019 with six distinctions and serving as a prefect, before going on to undertake her LL.B. studies at the University of Cape Town.

Jessica’s legal journey includes valuable experience as a legal graduate at Cognia Law, as well as work experience gained at a commercially focussed law firm during the course of her studies. Jessica’s passion for serving the community was ignited during her involvement with the UCT Law Clinic and the SAC-IWAJ Mentorship Programme for women. She also played a pivotal role in SHAWCO Law, where she inter alia served as a volunteer coordinator and eventually as president/project manager, educating high school learners about the law.

Jessica is committed to continuous learning and she adopts a people-centered approach to legal practice.

Paul Hill (LL.B.)

Paul matriculated from Bishops Diocesan College before pursuing his LL.B. at Stellenbosch University, where he provided pro bono legal aid services part-time at the Stellenbosch Law Clinic during his final year.

After attending the PVT School for Legal Practice and earning his Introduction to Trial Advocacy Training certification, conducted by the Black Lawyers Association Legal Education Centre, he gained valuable experience working as a consultant in the forensics department of a respected law firm in Cape Town.

In May 2025, Paul joined DSC Attorneys as a candidate legal practitioner, where he assists Jacqueline Hudson in her busy practice.

Jordyn Cunningham (LL.B.)

Jordyn has a dynamic academic and leadership background that uniquely blends science and law. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Life Sciences and Genetics from Stellenbosch University, where she developed an analytical approach to complex problem-solving .

She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the IIE Varsity College and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Her aptitude for advocacy was demonstrated when she participated at the 2022 Regional and National Moot Court Competitions. At the national level, under the adjudication of former Constitutional Court Justice Johan Kriegler, Jordyn was awarded Best Speaker, with her team securing the overall victory.

Jordyn gained practical exposure to the legal system through the National Prosecuting Authority’s Job Shadowing Programme at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court in 2024, where she developed insight into courtroom procedure and the realities of litigation practice.

Jordyn is excited to bring together two of her passions — science and law — as she contributes to the medical malpractice department at DSC in her capacity as a candidate legal practitioner.

Thea Nel (LL.B.)

Thea matriculated from Swartland High School in 2019 and holds an LL.B. degree from Stellenbosch University. In 2024, she gained practical experience in legal drafting and research during her vacation work at a Stellenbosch-based law firm. She further developed these skills in her final year Practical Legal Training module, where she worked directly with clients at the Stellenbosch Law Clinic.

Thea’s leadership roles, from serving as head girl in high school to chairing the Culture Committee, running her own recycling business in high school and teaching Pilates at the local gym in Malmesbury, have equipped her with the ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and inspire growth in others.

Driven by her love for helping people and interest in personal injury, Thea joined DSC as a candidate legal practitioner in 2026, where she currently assists Daneil Botha in his demanding litigation practice.

Aphiwe Dlamini (LL.B.)

Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, Aphiwe matriculated from Hillcrest High School in 2019, whereafter she enrolled at the University of Zululand to complete her LL.B. qualification, during which time she was a member of the Black Lawyers Association Student Chapter.

In her final year of study, she served as a student volunteer at the university law clinic, gaining practical exposure to client consultations and legal assistance.

In 2024, she relocated to Cape Town to complete an internship at the Road Accident Fund, where she gained valuable hands-on experience in handling RAF claims.

Aphiwe joined DSC Attorneys as a candidate legal practitioner in February 2026, where she now assists Chris Smit in his busy legal practice.

Aqeelah Allie (LL.B.)

Aqeelah matriculated from The Settlers High School before enrolling at the University of Cape Town for her LL.B., graduating in 2025, when she was recognised for her academic achievements by making the Dean’s Merit List, whilst also receiving university recognition for her service and involvement.

During her studies, Aqeelah gained practical experience through vacation work and internships at a number of prominent law firms, as well as through her involvement at the UCT SLSJ Law Clinic. These experiences deepened her interest in litigation through hands-on exposure to legal research, drafting, and client-focused work.

Alongside her legal training, Aqeelah explored her creative side through her involvement with the UCT Altum Sonatur Law Magazine, where she contributed to both the administrative and creative aspects of the publication. She also tutored preliminary law students, an experience that strengthened her appreciation for clear communication and the accessibility of the law.

Aqeelah approaches legal practice with a people-centred mindset and is motivated by work that has real-world impact, guided by a strong commitment to improving access to justice. In 2026 Aqeelah joined DSC Attorneys as a candidate legal practitioner, and is currently assisting Handrie Smalberger in her busy litigation practice.
