Pippa Hudson of CapeTalk interviewed DSC Attorneys director, Kirstie Haslam, about what to do if you’re involved in a car accident.

In the interview, Kirstie discusses the legal obligations that apply, as well as steps to take to protect yourself legally. Not all of these are widely known.

Among the issues covered in the interview are:

  • ensuring you have blood drawn within a two-hour window after an accident to prove your blood alcohol is below the legal limit
  • when and where – and within what time frame – to report a car accident (and why it’s advisable to do this even if the accident has already been reported by another party)
  • making sure you don’t inadvertently admit fault at the scene of an accident
  • when it’s permissible to move vehicles off the road after a collision has occurred.

If you or a family member has been injured in a car accident and wish to claim compensation from the Road Accident Fund, contact DSC Attorneys for the best possible legal advice and representation.
